Act of Accession of Spain to the European Communities

The Act of Accession of Spain to the European Communities is a treaty that joined Spain in the European Economic Community, it was signed on June 12, 1985 in the Columns hall of the Royal Palace of Madrid to became effective on January 1st,1986. It was made as the same time as Portugal.

After that,Spain was in economic prosperity period, that supposed the end of the international loneliness that suffered since the Potsdam Declaration in August 1945 and the stabilization of the democracy.

30th Anniversary of Spain in the European Union

In January 1st 1986 Spain join the European Union with Portugal. With the entry of both in the “European club” the members now where twelve. This year, 2016 we’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of Spain in the European Union.

On June 12th 1985 Spain signed the Treaty of Accession to the European Communities, eight years after the request by the Adolfo Suarez’s government then to proceed with their respective integration finally on January 1st of 1986.

Since then, Spain has been noticeable by important advances caused the welfare state in the Spanish society.

We are a group of 12 students from Salesianos Estrecho's School of Madrid and we are in 4th E.S.O. (Secondary Education).
